HAVE FUN HURT NO ONE ™

One of the most important aspects of loving life, beating anxiety or depression, is learning once again to have fun.
Nearly everyone, as a child, learned how to play. Most individuals no matter how challenging their childhood found activities they enjoyed.

Some found sports, some music, others played card games, tag, video games, or theater. We all played at something we enjoyed during recess or after school. It seems natural that all animals and small children play.

It seems nearly all adults either cannot find the time or forget to have fun by middle age. In fact it seems some never really learned to have fun while others fooled themselves indulging in something like drugs or alcohol which is faux fun.

What is important now whatever your age, is to recall or discover what could be fun activities. Outdoor physical exercise if possible is a great source of fun for most people. Nearly anyone can enjoy a walk in the park or a long run. Some may enjoy swimming or surfing. There are also team sport like softball and kickball.

The list of possible sports to be enjoyed is almost endless.

If you are not able to enjoy athletic activities there are things like cooking groups, card clubs, book clubs, and volunteering activities that can be up-lifting.

A key aspect of having fun is to get out there and participate. There is no benefit in thinking about it. You must get up, go out, and begin an activity.

Once you start, it is ideal to make the activity you enjoy a prominent aspect of your week.

For example though I still work I make time to play pickleball 3 days a week. I swim at the local community pool 3-5 days a week and I lift weights whenever I can. This may sound like a lot to some but I enjoy it. I find it fun to be fit. When you do begin start slowly and learn what your body and brain enjoy. You will eventually find yourself doing more of whatever it is you enjoy. You will have fun doing someone you truly love.

This can be done at any age as your body will over time adapt and the activity you enjoy becomes easier and thus even more Fun. If it is Bridge or Canasta, you become more skilled. If it is running or swimming you become stronger and healthier. That is Fun.

The key to selecting the activities to be enjoyed is finding something you find rewarding. And, it is even better if you find multiple activities to keep your interest high and not feeling stuck in a rut.

What is the purpose of living if you are not going to Have Fun!

The Hurt No One! Is hopefully obvious. Gloating or punishing behavior is never needed by any attempting enjoyment.

Now get out there and have some fun. I truly believe if you don’t have fun you’re not trying.
